Derek Van Derven

Derek Van Derven graduated with a BFA degree from Rutgers University, and has been interested in the painting techniques of the 'Old Masters' such as Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, and newer masters such as John Singer Sargent since he was a young teen. Later in the techniques of Odd Nerdrum. In 2010 the themes are of doubt and of belief, Atheistic and Christian views conflicting in life. In 2011 the painting themes are of Positive Thought, Thought and the Subconscious mind, Reason, Faith, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a tool to challenge your negative thoughts.
